Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply to every quote we issue and every job we carry out — covering pricing, bookings, call-out fees, the workmanship warranty, and what happens when something goes wrong.
Last updated: 18 August 2026
1. These terms
These Terms & Conditions govern all quotes, bookings and work carried out by DSTV Installations Noordhoek ("we", "us", "our") for a customer ("you"). By accepting a quote, confirming a booking, or allowing our technician to begin work at your property, you agree to these terms.
They should be read together with our Privacy Policy. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA") — see section 13 below.
2. Definitions
- Work — the installation, repair, realignment, configuration or maintenance services set out in the quote or booking.
- Site — the property address where the work is to be carried out.
- Equipment — dishes, brackets, LNBs, cabling, connectors, decoders and related hardware.
- Quote — the written price we give you before work begins.
3. Quotes and pricing
- The prices published on this website — installations from R800, Explora setups from R1 200, Extra View from R1 500 and repair call-outs from R550 — are indicative starting prices, not fixed quotations.
- A quote is given in writing before work begins and reflects the scope, access and materials known at that point. Equipment costs are additional unless the quote expressly includes them.
- Quotes are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise, and are subject to change if supplier pricing moves materially in that period.
- If conditions on site turn out to differ from what was described or reasonably foreseeable — for example a longer cable run, a difficult or unsafe mounting position, thatch or heritage constraints, asbestos, or existing wiring that must be replaced — we will stop, explain the variation and the revised price, and only continue once you approve it. We do not carry out unapproved additional work.
- Where a job cannot be quoted accurately without seeing the property, we will say so and arrange an assessment rather than give a figure we cannot stand behind.
4. Bookings, same-day service and access
- Bookings are confirmed by phone, WhatsApp or email and are subject to technician availability.
- Same-day service is offered where you call before 12pm and a technician is available for your area. It is an intention we work hard to meet, not a guarantee, and it may be affected by weather, traffic, load-shedding or an earlier job overrunning.
- Appointment times are given as a window. If we are going to fall outside it, we will contact you.
- You must ensure that an adult over 18 who can authorise the work is present at the site, and that we have safe access to the roof, the wall faces concerned, and each room where equipment is to be installed.
- We reserve the right to postpone or stop work where conditions are unsafe — including wet or unstable roofs, lightning risk, high wind, unsecured animals, or structures that cannot safely carry a mounted dish.
5. Call-out fees
- Diagnostic and repair visits carry a call-out fee, from R550, which covers travel, on-site testing with a professional signal analyser and the technician's diagnostic time.
- The call-out fee is payable whether or not the fault is repaired on the visit, including where the diagnosis is that equipment must be replaced or that the mounting position needs to change.
- Where the diagnosed repair is carried out on the same visit, the fee may be credited against the repair price. We will tell you at the time whether that applies.
- Parts fitted during a repair are quoted and approved before they are installed.
6. Payment
- Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the work.
- For larger commercial installations we may require a deposit against equipment before ordering. Deposits are applied to the final invoice.
- Accepted payment methods will be confirmed at the time of booking. You will receive an invoice for every job.
- Equipment supplied by us remains our property until it has been paid for in full. Risk in the equipment passes to you on installation.
- Overdue amounts may attract interest at the maximum rate permitted by law, and we may suspend further work on an account while an invoice remains unpaid.
7. Equipment, decoders and subscriptions
- We are a MultiChoice accredited installation business. We are not MultiChoice, and we do not control DStv programming, channel line-ups, package pricing or subscription decisions.
- Your subscription is a contract between you and MultiChoice. Payment, suspension, reconnection, package changes and account credit are matters for MultiChoice, not for us.
- Decoders and other hardware carry the manufacturer's or supplier's warranty. Where we supply equipment, we will pass that warranty on to you and assist you in claiming under it.
- Where you supply your own equipment, we will install it, but we cannot warrant hardware we did not supply and we may decline to install equipment that is unsafe, incompatible or in poor condition.
- Error codes such as E16 that relate to subscription status or smartcard authorisation may require action on your MultiChoice account that only you, as the account holder, can authorise.
8. Your responsibilities as the customer
- You confirm that you own the property or are authorised to instruct installation work on it, including any drilling, mounting and cable routing that the job requires.
- Where the property is governed by a body corporate, homeowners' association, estate architectural code or heritage restriction, obtaining the necessary approval is your responsibility. Tell us about any such restriction before we quote so that we can design around it.
- You must disclose anything on site that affects safe working — concealed wiring or plumbing in a wall to be drilled, a fragile or damaged roof, unstable structures, or a thatch roof.
- You are responsible for the electrical supply, surge protection and network connectivity at the site. We can advise, but we do not warrant the performance of internet services we did not supply.
9. Workmanship warranty
Every installation we carry out includes a workmanship warranty. It means that if a fault arises because of the way we did the work — a bracket that was not correctly anchored, a connector that was not properly terminated, an alignment that was not correctly peaked, or cabling that was not correctly routed or sealed — we will return and put it right at no charge for our labour.
The warranty period applicable to your job is confirmed on your quote or invoice. To claim, contact us with your invoice reference and a description of the fault, and we will arrange an assessment visit.
10. What the warranty does not cover
The workmanship warranty does not extend to faults that are not caused by our work, including:
- Storm, wind, lightning or flood damage, and other acts of nature.
- Damage caused by third parties, including other contractors, tenants, or anyone who adjusts, moves or re-cables the installation after we leave.
- Tree growth, animal or rodent damage, and physical impact.
- Power surges, load-shedding damage and electrical supply faults.
- Normal wear of consumable components, and end-of-life failure of equipment such as an LNB that has reached its service life.
- Faults in equipment we did not supply, or in equipment supplied by you.
- Signal loss caused by MultiChoice-side changes, satellite or broadcast issues, or subscription status.
- Changes in signal conditions caused by new construction, new vegetation or other obstructions appearing after installation.
Where a fault falls outside the warranty, we will tell you honestly and quote the repair before doing anything.
11. Cancellations, postponements and no-access visits
- Please give us as much notice as you can if you need to cancel or move a booking. 24 hours' notice allows us to re-allocate the slot at no cost to you.
- If our technician arrives at the agreed time and cannot gain access, or no authorised adult is present, a wasted call-out fee may be charged to cover the travel and the lost slot.
- We may cancel or reschedule a booking for reasons beyond our control, including severe weather, unsafe site conditions or vehicle breakdown. Where we do, we will offer you the earliest alternative slot and you will not be charged for the cancelled visit.
- Where equipment has been specially ordered for your job, cancellation after the order has been placed may be subject to the supplier's own cancellation terms.
12. Liability
- We take reasonable care at your property. Where we cause direct physical damage to your property through our negligence, we will make it good.
- We are not liable for pre-existing defects that our work reveals rather than causes — for example a roof, wall or ceiling that was already compromised, or concealed services whose position was not disclosed to us.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of viewing, missed broadcasts, loss of recordings, loss of profit, or loss arising from an interruption to a subscription service.
- Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act
Where the CPA applies to you, these terms do not limit the rights it gives you — including the right to services performed in a manner and quality that consumers are generally entitled to expect, the right to a fair and reasonable quote, and the statutory protections around cooling-off, cancellation and unfair contract terms. Where anything in these terms conflicts with the CPA, the CPA prevails.
14. Complaints
If something is not right, tell us first and give us the chance to fix it. Email info@dstvinstallationnoordhoek.co.za or call 079 754 5527 with your invoice reference and a description of the problem. We aim to acknowledge every complaint promptly and to arrange an assessment visit where one is needed.
15. General and governing law
- These terms, together with your quote and invoice, form the whole agreement between us for the work described. Changes must be agreed in writing.
- If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
- A failure by us to enforce a term on one occasion is not a waiver of that term.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of the Western Cape have jurisdiction.
- We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the date of your quote applies to your job.
